Long ago an Eastern sage told his apprentice about the journey through life that every illumined master must make. "At first," began the sage, "this would-be master is only a seeker. He looks about and sees the mountains, trees, rivers and lakes, and even a vast ocean. He sees them as he has always seen themthey are there as they have always been there. All around him, everything seems just as it has always been, and now he seeks to look elsewhere, to go somewhere he has never been, experience something he has never experienced. In his mind, it is this 'something else* that will bring him knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and mastery of life.
